Alessi — Grind WAL03 | Moulin à épices en aluminium noir

There is something primal yet sophisticated about the act of grinding. Grind transforms it into a visual ritual before it becomes a culinary one. The black cast-aluminium body asserts itself on the table with a sculptural presence: solid, matt, dense with substance. Its height of just over fourteen centimetres and generous diameter create a form reminiscent of a domestic monolith, capable of occupying the centre of the table with quiet authority. Grind was born from the collaboration between William Alsop and Federico Grazzini, a meeting between the eccentric and unconventional architectural vision of Briton Alsop — known for buildings that challenge conventional geometric logic — and Grazzini's Italian sensitivity to functional detail. The result is an object that does not hide, that does not imitate the decorative, but decisively chooses the language of essential form and industrial material brought to the table without mediation. At Stilmobili, we chose Grind because it represents exactly what we look for in an everyday object: the ability to be present without being intrusive, to tell the story of a design each time it is held. It is the ideal gift for those who love cooking as a cultural act, for those who furnish even convivial spaces thoughtfully, and for those who recognize in the quality of the material and the coherence of the design a value that goes beyond function. Design notes: cast aluminium, matt black finish. Suitable for salt, pepper and spices. Height 14.20 cm, diameter 7.50 cm. Weight 545 g. Alessi collection, autumn/winter catalogue.
