The Crackle Design

The crackle technique has its roots in traditional glassmaking: still-glowing glass is immersed in cold water, undergoing an immediate thermal shock that creates a web of internal microfractures. The piece is then returned to the kiln to stabilize, and those fractures remain trapped forever at the heart of the material. The result is never identical to itself: each sphere has a unique internal pattern that interacts with light differently depending on the time of day, exposure, and setting in which it is placed. The gold finish further amplifies this chromatic dialogue, bringing warmth and depth even to the most neutral spaces. A single sphere is already a focal point; a composition of several pieces — perhaps combining different diameters or finishes — becomes a true decorative installation.
