Alessi — Veneer | Urquiola Design Napkin Holder

Alessi Veneer PU08 - Steel that recalls wood

On the table or desk, Veneer brings something unusual with it: the coolness of steel softens into a decoration that evokes the grain of wood, as if the material itself wanted to tell a different story from the one you would expect. An object that catches the eye, invites touch, and endures.

Why we chose it for you

Patricia Urquiola designed Veneer for Alessi - the Italian applied arts workshop founded in 1921 on Lake Orta - with the specific intention of restoring three-dimensionality and dynamism to a noble material such as stainless steel. The embossed decoration is not ornament for its own sake: it creates plays of light and shadow that change depending on the angle, making each glance slightly different from the last. This is the kind of project Stilmobili chooses: where function and beauty blend without either overshadowing the other.
