There is something hypnotic about the shape of Trumpet: its wide neck opens upward with the confidence of something that has nothing to hide, while the spun brass body captures the light and gives it back softened, warm, almost alive. Held in the hand, its weight has the reassuring quality of things made to last - not the disposable lightness of the contemporary world, but the solidity of an object that chooses to occupy a place and belong to it. Trumpet was created by Michael Anastassiades, a London-based Cypriot designer and one of the most refined voices in the international design scene. Anastassiades has always worked on the subtle boundary between sculpture and functional object, between minimal gesture and maximum presence. Here, he has designed a piece for Alessi's "Il Tornitore Matto" collection - a family of objects that celebrates turning as an almost ritual act, and the lathe as a tool for thought even before production. Every piece in the collection bears the marks of craftsmanship that is not afraid to show itself. At Stilmobili, we chose Trumpet because it embodies what we always seek in the objects we offer: beauty that cannot be explained, only felt. It is the vase for those who do not want to decorate a room but inhabit it with intention. It works equally well on a desk, on a windowsill, or as an independent sculpture, even without flowers.
