Alessi — Toru NE03 NE03 B/CH | Stainless steel toaster designed by Nendo

There is something almost architectural about Toru: its black silhouette asserts itself on the kitchen counter with the same confidence as a constructed volume. The 18/10 stainless steel engages with the thermoplastic resin in a rigorous color balance, where black is not absence but a declared presence. The proportions - 32 centimeters wide and almost 26 deep - create an object that occupies space intentionally, without ever becoming cumbersome. Holding it in your hands and adjusting its controls is already an aesthetic act before it is a functional one. Toru was born from the collaboration between Alessi and Nendo, the studio founded in Tokyo in 2002 by Oki Sato, one of the sharpest voices in contemporary international design. Nendo has always worked through subtraction: eliminating the superfluous until reaching a form that seems inevitable, as if it could not be otherwise. In Toru, this method can be perceived in every detail - the linearity of the profiles, the coherence of the color system, and the tactile quality of the surfaces. The result is a toaster belonging to the same conceptual family as objects designed to last, not to be replaced at the first change of season. We chose it for Stilmobili because it embodies exactly what we look for in kitchen design objects: the ability to transform the everyday into something memorable. It is ideal for those who furnish a kitchen with the same care given to the living room, for those who do not separate aesthetics from use, and for those who consider the design of even a breakfast worthy of attention.
