Alessi — Toru NE02 NE02 B/USA | Nendo black electric citrus juicer

There is something almost meditative about squeezing a citrus fruit in the morning. Toru transforms it into a visual ritual before it becomes a gustatory one. The form develops vertically with an unexpected sculptural tension for a kitchen appliance: the black thermoplastic resin body narrows and expands according to an organic logic, almost as if the fruit and the machine were finding a silent accord. The 18/10 stainless steel emerges in the details with the usual formal clarity of the Alessi house, cool and luminous against the matte black of the supporting structure. Toru was born from the pencil - or rather, the sparse and conceptual line - of Nendo, the design studio founded by Oki Sato in Tokyo in 2002. Nendo is among the most recognizable voices in contemporary international design: capable of transforming everyday objects into philosophical questions about form and use. The partnership with Alessi results here in an object consistent with both identities: an object that rejects the ordinary while remaining fully functional, with power ranging from 72 to 85 watts, sufficient to extract juice with quiet efficiency. At Stilmobili, we chose it because we believe breakfast deserves a point of view too. Toru is designed for those who furnish the kitchen with the same care given to the living room, for those who consider the countertop a display surface as well as a functional one. It is the ideal gift for a Japanese design enthusiast or for anyone who wants to bring aesthetic coherence to every corner of the home. Project notes: dimensions 19.5 × 22.5 × 32 cm.
