Alessi — Toru NE01 B NE01 B/UK | Nendo stainless steel kettle

There is something hypnotic about Toru's form: a volume that narrows and opens with the naturalness of a breath, clad in 18/10 stainless steel polished until it becomes a mirror of the world around it. The handle, lid, and long pouring spout are molded from black thermoplastic resin, a color contrast that is never gratuitous - it is the graphic mark that distinguishes function from structure, gesture from object. Holding it in your hand as the water rises in temperature is a quiet and precise experience, almost meditative. Toru was born from the collaboration between Alessi and Nendo, the design studio founded in Tokyo by Oki Sato in 2002, which for years has been among the most refined voices in international contemporary design. Nendo creates objects that seem obvious only after you have seen them: yet they were not obvious before. The name itself - *toru*, "to take" in Japanese - condenses the essence of the project into a single word: an object that exists to be grasped, used, and lived with every morning, without the gesture ever losing its elegance. At Stilmobili, we chose Toru because it perfectly represents what we believe in: auteur design that does not retreat to the formal living room, but inhabits the stovetop, the breakfast counter, and the everyday kitchen. It is the ideal piece for those who consider their kitchen an extension of their personal taste and cannot stand a kettle being just a kettle.
