Alessi — Toru NE01 B/CH | Nendo stainless steel electric kettle

There is something almost meditative about preparing tea or coffee: a daily ritual that deserves objects worthy of its intimacy. Toru interprets this moment with a silhouette that balances tension and calm — the mirror-polished 18/10 stainless-steel body interacts with details in black thermoplastic resin, restrained and precise like a calligraphic stroke. The handle, lid, and spout create a coherent formal grammar, in which every element seems to find its position with absolute naturalness. Toru is a project by the Nendo studio, founded in Tokyo in 2002 by Oki Sato, one of the most refined voices in contemporary international design. Nendo's philosophy — summarized in the idea of eliciting a small "!" of surprise through simplicity — is manifested here in proportions studied down to the millimeter and a formal purity that avoids any redundancy. The name itself, *toru*, refers in Japanese to the act of taking or holding in one's hand: a direct reference to the central gesture around which the entire object is built. At Stilmobili, we chose Toru because it perfectly embodies the tension between function and beauty that guides our selection: it is a kettle for those who do not separate utility from aesthetics, for those who see the kitchen as a space for care rather than mere production. It is ideal in a contemporary setting with Nordic or minimalist taste, yet capable of finding its place in more eclectic contexts thanks to the restraint of its two-tone design. Project notes: 1.7-liter capacity, 2000–2400W power for rapid, quiet boiling. Dimensions: 25.5 × 16.5 × 30.5 cm. Adapter included. A discreet presence on the countertop — noticed, however, every time you look at it.
