Alessi — Tonale | Ceramic Deep Plate Set

Alessi Tonale — The Poetry of Everyday Life in Plate Form

There is something quiet and precious about the way a plate can change the perception of a meal. Alessi's Tonale set brings a rare sensibility to the table: that of someone who looks at an everyday object and sees, all at once, form, history, and color. The White Earth shade envelops every dish in a soft, almost painterly light, reminiscent of the ceramics of Asian traditions filtered through a contemporary perspective.

Why we chose it for you

Tonale was created through a collaboration between Alessi — an Italian applied arts workshop founded in 1921 on Lake Orta — and architect David Chipperfield. The project draws inspiration from Korean, Japanese, and Chinese vernacular ceramics, reinterpreting them as an exercise in refining functional tableware. The name pays tribute to Giorgio Morandi's approach to color: his ability to give the most ordinary everyday objects an intimate and unrepeatable character. Not just any tableware set, but a stoneware reflection on the understated beauty of everyday things.

A set to bring to the table for lunches where attention to detail matters as much as the recipe. A gift for those who care for their homes and seek objects capable of telling a story.
