Alessi — Tonale DC03/94 LG | Grey stoneware ceramic milk jug

There is something ancient and at the same time thoroughly modern about David Chipperfield's Tonale for Alessi. The Light Grey stoneware ceramic milk jug carries with it the tactile memory of terracotta — its reassuring weight, its matte surface that absorbs light without reflecting it — reinterpreted through a sober, almost architectural geometry. In the hand, it conveys solidity and restraint. On the table, it belongs. Tonale was created in 2010 from a project through which David Chipperfield — one of the most influential British architects of his generation, renowned for exemplary rigorous museum projects such as the Neues Museum in Berlin — approached the world of tableware for the first time. The name itself pays homage to the Tonale Pass, to the chromatic nuances of the Lombard Alps, to that stone grey that changes as the light varies. Chipperfield translates the same language that guides his architecture into ceramics: absence of ornament, predominance of form, respect for the material. At Stilmobili, we chose Tonale because it represents exactly what we look for when selecting an object for the table: not a decorative accessory, but a piece that transforms an everyday gesture into a conscious act. The DC03/94 LG milk jug is ideal for those who love setting the table with consistency and cultural depth, for those who consider breakfast or afternoon tea moments worthy of attention. Project notes: Stoneware ceramic, matte Light Grey finish. Capacity 30 cl. Dimensions 10 × 8 × 9 cm. End-of-line piece — limited availability.
