Alessi — Tonale DC03/2 LG | Light gray stoneware soup plate

There is something profoundly quiet about Tonale. The stoneware ceramic of this soup plate carries the memory of the earth, a dense and reassuring materiality that the light grey — light grey — translates into diffuse, almost Nordic light. The compact diameter of 18.5 cm creates a contained form that invites food to rest at the center, like in a small natural hollow. Holding it in your hands gives it just the right weight: neither too much nor too little. The right gravity of things made to last. Tonale was born from the vision of David Chipperfield, a world-renowned London architect and a central figure in the contemporary debate on the relationship between form, function, and context. Chipperfield — known for projects such as Berlin's Neues Museum and the James-Simon-Galerie — brings the same philosophy that guides his architecture to the table: no unnecessary gestures, only necessity brought to its purest form. The Tonale tableware collection for Alessi grew from this research: objects capable of disappearing into everyday life without giving up a precise, recognizable presence. We at Stilmobili chose Tonale because it represents exactly what we look for in our table settings: design by a renowned designer that does not perform or show off. It is the ideal tableware for those who love creating an essential, refined mise en place, and for those who collect objects with a soul rather than simple accessories. It pairs naturally with raw fabrics, light woods, and burnished silver — but it also knows how to stand alone, and be enough. Design notes: Stoneware ceramic soup plate. Light grey color. Diameter 18.5 cm, height 5 cm. Weight 385 g. Alessi code DC03/2 LG. Part of the Tonale collection, spring/summer series.
