The Tonale tableware collection was born from a dialogue between two design cultures: the heritage of East Asian vernacular ceramics - Korean, Japanese, and Chinese - and the color sensitivity of Giorgio Morandi, to whom the name itself refers. David Chipperfield, an internationally renowned architect, conceived this collection as an exercise in refining functional tableware, preserving its expressive purity without sacrificing anything to formal whim. Alessi, an Italian applied arts workshop since 1921, chose Chipperfield precisely for this ability: to transform the ordinary into something worth looking at every day.
