Alessi — Mami | Giovannoni Design Pasta Basket

Mami Perforated Pasta Basket — The ritual of pasta, in perfect form

There is a precise moment when the kitchen stops being a place and becomes an atmosphere: when the water boils, steam rises, and your hands instinctively reach for the right basket. Alessi's Mami basket springs from that memory — of the plump pots found in family kitchens, of aromas slowly spreading from room to room — and translates it into polished, capacious, generous stainless steel.

Why we chose it for you

Designed by Stefano Giovannoni — a designer whose aesthetic consistently draws on the imagery of domestic affection — the Mami basket belongs to the family of pots with which Alessi reinterpreted ancient terracotta cooking pots, those archaic, rounded vessels that evoke a sense of familial abundance. Founded in 1921 on Lake Orta, Alessi has been the Italian workshop where design and function meet without mediation for over a century. In this perforated basket, that tradition is instantly recognizable: in its balanced proportions, mirror finish, and the quiet solidity of something made to last.
