Alessi — Rundes Modell JH01/6 | Josef Hoffmann dessert knife

There is something almost ceremonial about holding the Rundes Modell. The AISI 420 steel blade flows toward the handle with a formal continuity that leaves nothing to arbitrariness: every curve is necessary, every proportion a deliberate choice. Eighteen centimeters of cutlery that transform the everyday gesture of peeling a fruit into a small act of conscious elegance. Behind this fruit knife is Josef Hoffmann, one of the founding fathers of the Wiener Werkstätte — the Viennese movement that, at the turn of the 20th century, redefined the relationship between applied art and everyday life. Hoffmann believed that beauty was not a luxury reserved for museums, but a right to be brought to the table, into the kitchen, and into the hands of those who inhabit these spaces. The original design carries that typically Secessionist tension: geometry as a poetic language, the circular form — the "round model" referenced in the name — as an organizing principle. Alessi welcomed it into the Officina Alessi collection, the editorial laboratory dedicated to projects that engage with the history of European design. At Stilmobili, we chose this piece because it represents exactly what we look for: objects that do not need to justify themselves, that carry within them a cultural genealogy and a quiet presence. It is the ideal gift for anyone who loves setting the table with intention, for the collector of functional design, and for anyone who wants even the simplest gesture — cutting a pear — to have a form worthy of being remembered.
