Alessi — Recinto AM14 | Mendini scalloped steel tray

There is something ancient yet utterly modern in Recinto's profile: the scalloped edge running around the entire perimeter of the tray recalls the Italian tradition of goldsmithing and silversmithing, reinterpreted through the cool, brilliant rigor of polished 18/10 stainless steel. The dimensions - forty-five centimeters by thirty - make it an object capable of receiving, containing, and arranging things gracefully. The side handles complete the silhouette with an almost theatrical naturalness, as if the tray had always known it was meant to take center stage. Recinto bears the signature of Alessandro Mendini, a central figure in Italian radical and postmodern design, co-founder of Domus and Modo magazines, driving force behind Alchimia and Memphis, and tireless theorist of beauty as a cultural practice. With Alessi, Mendini developed a dialogue spanning decades, founded on the conviction that the domestic object is never neutral: it is always a story, a quotation, a coded emotion. In Recinto, the reference to traditional decorative arts is sublimated into a design gesture that does not evoke nostalgia, but reinterprets. At Stilmobili, we chose Recinto because it embodies exactly the tension between function and storytelling that we seek in every piece in our selection. It is the ideal tray for those who want even the most everyday object - bringing tea into the living room, serving desserts at the table, collecting keys in the entryway - to become a small, conscious aesthetic act. It is for those who live with intention. Project notes: polished 18/10 stainless steel rectangular tray with a scalloped edge and integrated handles. Dimensions: 45 × 30 × 3.5 cm. Weight: 1.46 kg.
