Alessi — Plissé MDL15W MDL15W/USA | White Michele De Lucchi toaster

There is something deeply domestic yet surprising about the Plissé: its white thermoplastic resin pleated surface captures the morning light like freshly ironed fabric, transforming an everyday gesture - toasting bread - into a small ritual of beauty. The vertical ribs running along the body of the appliance are not merely decorative: they are the very structure of its formal narrative, an ongoing dialogue between geometric rigor and tactile softness. The 18/10 stainless steel brioche-warming rack, with its understated and precise presence, completes the object with the same coherence with which a sartorial detail defines a garment. The Plissé was created by Michele De Lucchi, one of the most influential architects and designers in the contemporary Italian scene, who was already a leading figure in the Memphis movement in the 1980s and later became known for architecture and objects capable of combining intellectual radicalism with human warmth. With Alessi, De Lucchi has built a profound conversation over time about the meaning of everyday objects: the Plissé is perhaps its most successful outcome, because it restores design dignity to an often-overlooked appliance, elevating it into a narrative element of the kitchen. We chose it for Stilmobili because it perfectly embodies that borderland that belongs to us: where design stops being exhibition and becomes presence. It is ideal for those who furnish with awareness, for those who see the kitchen as a space for care and not merely function, and for those who want even the most ordinary objects to tell a precise story.
