Alessi — Plissé MDL15 GR | Green De Lucchi resin toaster

There is something deliberately theatrical about the surface of Plissé: the dense, regular vertical folds running across the green thermoplastic resin body are not ornament; they are both structure and aesthetic statement. The long double-slot toaster presents itself on the countertop as an object that has already decided to take center stage — not an appliance that hides away, but one that remains on display even after breakfast is over. The green chosen for this version is rich and tactile, capable of conversing equally well with contemporary kitchens in concrete and brass and with more classic interiors seeking an unexpected splash of color. The design bears the signature of Michele De Lucchi, one of the most influential Italian architects and designers of the 20th century, a leading figure in the Memphis movement in the 1980s and later founder of AMDL CIRCLE. De Lucchi built his career on the principle that everyday objects deserve the same design attention devoted to architecture. With Plissé — the name itself refers to the tailoring technique of pleating — he translates an ancient gesture into industrial form: the fold of fabric becomes the texture of an object that warms bread every morning. We at Stilmobili chose Plissé because it represents exactly the tension that interests us: that between domestic function and design culture. It is the ideal object for those who furnish with intention, for those who consider the kitchen a space in which every element must have its own formal dignity. The 18/10 stainless steel brioche-warming rack completes its usefulness without betraying its elegance.
