Alessi — Plissé MDL15 B | Black Michele De Lucchi toaster

There is something almost architectural about the way the Plissé occupies the kitchen countertop. Its ribbed surface - that rhythm of vertical folds recalling the pleated fabric from which it takes its name - is not a decorative detail, but the formal grammar of the entire object. Made of black thermoplastic resin, the long, two-slot toaster has a sculptural, understated presence, capable of conversing with the most refined interiors without ever playing the part of an appliance. The 18/10 stainless steel brioche-warming rack completes the design with the same material consistency, combining function and visual rigor in a single gesture. The Plissé was created by Michele De Lucchi, an architect and designer among the most influential figures in the contemporary Italian scene, whose career passed through the radical Memphis movement of the 1980s before arriving at a mature, essential, deeply humanist language. His work for Alessi always carries a dual tension: the precision of industrial design and the warmth of a form conceived for everyday life. The Plissé - in its black version - is perhaps the fullest expression of this synthesis: an object that manages to be both rigorous and welcoming. We chose it for Stilmobili because it represents exactly what we look for when curating our selection of designer appliances: pieces that do not hide away on shelves, but inhabit the kitchen with dignity and character. It is ideal for those who have chosen a contemporary kitchen in black or anthracite, for those who collect Alessi objects, or simply for anyone who believes that even making toast in the morning deserves a certain visual and emotional quality.
