Alessi — Plissé MDL14W MDL14W/US | White De Lucchi filter coffee maker

There is something almost sartorial about the Plissé's silhouette: the pleated surface running across its white thermoplastic resin body is not mere decoration, but the expression of a texture that transforms a kitchen appliance into an object to be displayed. The form rises vertically, composed and poised, with that sculptural quality recognizable at a glance — like a stiff fabric that had found a way to stand upright on its own on the countertop. The Plissé was created by Michele De Lucchi, one of the leading figures in contemporary Italian design, founder of AMDL CIRCLE and a central figure in the history of the Memphis movement. In this project, De Lucchi brings his ability to see everyday life as a poetic realm: the drip coffee maker — an object widespread in American and Northern European culture — is reinterpreted with an entirely Mediterranean sensibility, where function is not enough unless accompanied by a precise formal presence. The result is a piece that belongs to Alessi's great tradition of the “factory of the poetic object.” At Stilmobili, we chose the Plissé because it perfectly captures what we look for: objects that inhabit the kitchen with aesthetic dignity, without sacrificing anything in terms of use. It is designed for those who do not separate visual appeal from the pleasure of the morning ritual, for those who furnish the kitchen with the same care they devote to choosing a sofa or a work of art. Its 1.5-liter capacity makes it generous enough for a family breakfast or a brunch with friends. Project notes: body in thermoplastic resin, matte white finish.
