Alessi — Plissé MDL14 B MDL14 B/UK | De Lucchi black filter coffee maker

There is something profoundly theatrical about the way Plissé inhabits the kitchen counter. Its black thermoplastic resin silhouette does not imitate any coffee machine you have ever seen: it rises vertically, sculptural, with those surface pleats that evoke pleated fabric - a sartorial gesture translated into industrial form. Holding it in your hands, pouring in the water, waiting for the slow gurgle of filtered coffee: every everyday gesture takes on a ritual, almost meditative quality. Michele De Lucchi created this object with the same intellectual coherence that has marked his entire career: from the Memphis era to the Olivetti years, and through to his major architectural projects. With Plissé, De Lucchi brings a reflection on form as narrative into the home kitchen. The name itself is already a manifesto: plissé is movement frozen, material pretending to be something else. Produced as part of the Alessi collection, Plissé belongs to that tradition of appliances in which the boundary between utilitarian object and collector's piece becomes deliberately unresolved. We at Stilmobili chose it because it answers a question we always ask ourselves: what remains on the kitchen counter when all the other objects have been put away? Plissé remains, and it does not get in the way - on the contrary, it organizes the gaze. It is designed for those who do not separate aesthetics from function, for those who make morning coffee a moment of mindfulness, and for those who recognize in everyday design a form of care for themselves and their space.
