Alessi — Plissé MDL08G MDL08G/USA | Gray resin toaster by De Lucc

There is something almost sculptural in the way Plissé occupies the countertop. The pleated surface that gives it its name - a rhythmic sequence of vertical grooves reminiscent of the pleated fabric of haute couture - transforms an object intended for everyday use into a formal presence capable of engaging with the architecture of the kitchen. The gray thermoplastic resin is not a neutral choice: it is a statement of style, a color that belongs as much to the world of industry as to that of natural materials, stone, and polished concrete. Plissé was created by Michele De Lucchi, an architect and designer among the most visionary figures in Italian design culture. A central figure in the Memphis movement during the 1980s, De Lucchi has reinvented himself over the decades with rare consistency: every object he creates bears the mark of deep reflection on the relationship between form and everyday life, between industrial mass production and accessible beauty. With Alessi, a company that has made functional design an art form, Plissé finds its natural home - a place where 850W of power is never merely a technical specification, but the breath of something designed to last. We chose it for those who consider the kitchen an extension of their personal taste, not merely a functional space. Plissé is the right object for those who approach breakfast with the same care they use when choosing an outfit or a book. It fits effortlessly into contemporary, minimalist settings, as well as kitchens with a warmer, more tactile character, where gray serves as a balancing element in the overall composition.
