Alessi — Plissé MDL08 MDL08 G/UK | Gray resin toaster by De Lucchi

There is something deeply domestic and, at the same time, surprisingly unexpected about Plissé: a toaster that resembles no other toaster. Its surface of tight, regular pleats - the texture that gives the object its name, evoking tailored pleating - transforms an everyday appliance into a kitchen sculpture. Made of soft, neutral gray thermoplastic resin, Plissé fits into any setting without ever going unnoticed: it does not hide; it discreetly puts itself on display. Michele De Lucchi designed this piece with the same poetic vision that has run through his entire career: the ability to see in an ordinary object an opportunity for formal reflection. One of the most influential designers on the Italian and international scene - already a leading figure in the Memphis group in the 1980s, and later the creator of architecture, installations, and design systems for major European industrial brands - De Lucchi brings an artisan sensibility to Plissé, applied to industrial production. The result is an object that seems almost shaped by hand, capable of conveying visual warmth despite its technical nature. We chose it for Stilmobili because it embodies exactly what we look for: the meeting point between function and beauty, between the everyday and the extraordinary. It is designed for those who consider the kitchen a space for aesthetic care, not just practicality; for those who want every object on the worktop to have a formal reason as well as a utilitarian one. Project notes: 850W power, dimensions 34 × 18.5 × 25 cm. Available with a British plug (UK). Part of the Alessi collection, spring/summer lineup.
