Alessi — Plissé MDL061GRUK | Green De Lucchi resin electric kettle

There is something almost sartorial about Alessi's Plissé. The pleated surface running across its body is not ornament for ornament's sake, but the sign of a profound reflection on texture as a formal language. In green thermoplastic resin - a colour that evokes plant matter, the wallpaper of grand hotels, certain sophisticated Eighties aesthetics that never faded - the kettle occupies the worktop with the discretion of an object that knows it is beautiful without needing to shout about it. The form is compact, almost sculptural: 21 × 16 × 20 cm of carefully calibrated presence, 2400 watts of power concealed beneath a silhouette that belongs more to a designer object than to a household appliance. The design bears the signature of Michele De Lucchi, a pivotal figure in contemporary Italian design, formerly with Memphis and then Olivetti, and later founder of AMDL CIRCLE: an intellectual journey that has always placed the relationship between function, craftsmanship and storytelling at its centre. With Plissé, De Lucchi revisits an ancient decorative motif - the fold, specifically the pleating of fabrics - and translates it into plastic with surprising, almost tactile coherence. The result is an object that engages with Italy's manufacturing tradition without nostalgia, remaining resolutely contemporary. We chose it for Stilmobili because it embodies exactly what we look for: the point where design meets the everyday gesture and transforms it. It is the kettle for those who furnish every centimetre of the kitchen with intention, for those who see the worktop as an extension of their taste. Ideal as a high-end gift or as a functional collector's piece. Project notes: 1-litre capacity, 2400W power, UK plug. Green thermoplastic resin. Net weight 1.51 kg. Alessi Palinsesto autumn/winter collection.
