Alessi — Pleats JK01/46 | 18/10 stainless steel tray

There is something profoundly textile about Alessi's Pleats: a tray that seems to hold the breath of a freshly folded fabric, crystallized forever in 18/10 stainless steel. The broad, flat, silent surface - forty-six centimetres long and thirty-one centimetres wide - is traversed by a series of geometric folds that animate its edge with a precise rhythm, almost like musical notation impressed on the metal. The result is an object that captures light in ever-changing ways, transforming visually depending on the angle and time of day. Behind the design is Jin Kuramoto, one of the most refined Japanese designers of his generation, capable of translating into industrial form that sensitivity to detail and materials characteristic of Japanese artisanal culture. With Pleats, Kuramoto applies the logic of origami and tailoring to steel: the fold is not decoration, but structure and narrative. The tray was created as part of Alessi's fall/winter collection, confirming the Crusinallo Factory's vocation for treating the table as a continually evolving design space, season after season. At Stilmobili, we chose Pleats because it perfectly embodies that tension between function and poetry that guides us in our selection. It is the ideal tray for those who do not separate aesthetics from everyday life: whoever brings it to the table is not simply serving, but composing a scene. Perfect for a contemporary kitchen, yet equally at home on a sideboard as a standalone object, left on display even when not in use. Project notes: 18/10 stainless steel, mirror finish and satin finish on the folds. Dimensions: 46 × 31 × 1.5 cm. Weight: 1.32 kg.
