Alessi — Pleats JK01/46 JK01/46 B | Black-colored steel tray

There is something profoundly textile about Alessi's Pleats: a surface that seems to have memorized the gesture of a fold, the memory of fabric set in metal. The JK01/46 B tray unfolds into a 46 × 31-centimeter rectangle with a barely perceptible height of one and a half centimeters - almost nothing, yet sufficient to contain, define, and separate the inside from the outside. The black finish on colored steel gives the object a quiet yet resolute presence, able to converse with light and dark surfaces with equal ease. Jin Kuramoto, one of the most refined Japanese designers of his generation, brings a rare material sensitivity to his work: the ability to transform an industrial process into visual poetry. With Pleats, Kuramoto translates the vocabulary of tailoring into steel - the folds, tensions, and volumes achieved through subtraction - creating an object that belongs simultaneously to the world of tableware and that of applied sculpture. The name itself is an explicit tribute to pleating, a fabric-working technique that here finds a metal reincarnation of extraordinary precision. We chose Pleats for our selection because it embodies exactly what we look for in a design object: the ability to be functional without giving up the opportunity to tell a story. It is the ideal tray for those who furnish with intention, for those who want even a centerpiece to have a story to offer guests. Perfect in a contemporary kitchen, on a minimalist dining table, or as a compositional element in a bookcase. Project notes: colored steel, matte black finish. Dimensions 46 × 31 × 1.5 cm. Net weight 1.320 kg. Alessi collection, autumn/winter lineup.
