Alessi — Ovale REB01/77 | Stoneware coffee saucer

There is something deliberately quiet about the Ovale saucer: a shape that does not seek to surprise, yet still surprises. The elliptical stoneware ceramic profile extends beneath the cup with an almost organic naturalness, as if it had always existed this way. The material is dense, matte, perceptible to the touch - stoneware carries with it a memory of earth and fire that porcelain, in its polished perfection, does not possess. Designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Alessi, Ovale belongs to the tradition of tableware objects that the two Breton brothers create with rigor and rare sensitivity. Their approach - always poised between formal research and attention to everyday life - is clearly evident in this small object: nothing is ornamental, everything is necessary. The Bouroullecs, among the most influential European designers of their generation, have condensed their poetics here into a minimal format, which is ultimately the most difficult. At Stilmobili, we chose Ovale because it embodies a vision of the contemporary table that reflects who we are: elegance without ostentation, authentic material quality, and authorial design expressed through the simplest gestures. It is the ideal complement for those who create a carefully considered table setting, or for those seeking a refined gift capable of saying something about themselves. Also suitable as a collectible standalone piece. Project notes: stoneware ceramic saucer, 13 × 11 cm. Part of the Alessi collection, fall/winter program.
