Alessi — MW51 | Dressed for X-mas Christmas tree by Wanders

There is something moving and at the same time ironic about the idea of “dressing” a Christmas tree when that tree is already, in itself, a sculpture. Alessi’s MW51 comes from the hand of Marcel Wanders as a threshold object - between decoration and furnishing, between Northern European tradition and contemporary design sensibility. The 18/10 stainless steel structure, highly polished and rigorous in its conical geometry, engages with the natural warmth of beechwood: two opposing materials that seek each other out, balance one another, and complete each other in an equilibrium that is Wanders’ quiet signature. Marcel Wanders, a central figure in Dutch design and co-founder of Moooi, has always brought to his work a poetic tension between fairy tale and function, between knowing kitsch and formal rigor. With the Dressed for X-mas collection for Alessi, this tension takes shape in an archetypal form - the tree - reinterpreted with the artisanal precision of Italian manufacturing. The project belongs to the fall/winter season of Alessi’s product lineup and is now a discontinued item, precious precisely because of its uniqueness. We chose the MW51 because it embodies what we have always sought for Stilmobili: objects that inhabit space with intelligence and character, capable of becoming rituals. It is designed for those who want Christmas, even in its smallest decoration, to tell a beautiful story. For those who do not separate aesthetics from emotion. For those who give with intention.
