Alessi — MU TI04/3 | Toyo Ito stainless steel table knife

There is something deeply architectural about the way the MU knife rests between the fingers. The AISI 420 stainless steel blade extends into the handle with a formal continuity that evokes a building section more than a simple table utensil: surfaces that bend, taper, and engage with the light. At 22 centimeters in length, MU finds its balance with almost theoretical precision, transforming every meal into a conscious gesture. MU was created through a collaboration between Alessi and Toyo Ito, the great Japanese architect and 2013 Pritzker Prize winner, renowned for works such as the Agbar Tower in Barcelona and the Sendai Mediatheque. The project translates his poetic obsession with the fluidity of structures and the dematerialization of form into the language of cutlery. The MU collection represents one of the rare moments when architecture of the highest caliber descends - or perhaps ascends - to the scale of the everyday object without losing any of its conceptual intensity. At Stilmobili, we chose MU because it embodies exactly the tension between function and vision that we seek in every piece in our selection. It is the ideal knife for those who consider the table a designed space, not simply a set table: for the design collector who does not separate aesthetics from lived experience, for those who want even the most everyday gesture to bear the signature of an extraordinary mind.
