Alessi — MT01 | La Stanza dello Scirocco, stainless steel wastebasket

There is something organic and ancestral in the form of *La Stanza dello Scirocco*: an 18/10 stainless steel basket that seems to have absorbed the breath of the Mediterranean wind from which it takes its name. The surface curves and stretches with disarming naturalness, as if the metal had learned to yield to the pressure of the warm air, retaining its memory in every fold. Its compact dimensions — 24.5 × 23.2 cm, with a height of just 6.2 cm — make it a tabletop object capable of occupying space with simultaneous discretion and presence. It was designed by Mario Trimarchi, a Sicilian designer whose work has always drawn nourishment from landscape, mythology, and material. With Alessi, Trimarchi has built over time a dialogue made up of pieces in which industrial design approaches literary storytelling. *La Stanza dello Scirocco* is one of them: not a simple container, but a place — a metaphor for an intimate, climatic architecture, for those underground spaces of Arab-Norman architecture created as refuges from the summer heat. At Stilmobili, we chose this piece because it embodies with rare precision what we seek in our selection: objects that live on the threshold between applied art and functional design, capable of transforming a dining table, an entryway, or a desk into a story. It is ideal for those who want to furnish with emotional intelligence, for those who know that a centerpiece can also be a statement of taste. *Project notes:* 18/10 stainless steel.
