Alessi — Mattina BG05 BG05 DG | Dark gray kitchen roll holder

There is something unexpectedly dignified about the way Mattina occupies the countertop. A vertical cylinder in steel painted with epoxy resin in a sober Dark Grey — a colour that does not shout, but asserts itself — topped with a bamboo wood knob that introduces natural warmth into an otherwise rigorous object. It is a kitchen roll holder, certainly, but in the care it takes with its presentation there is the same formal attention reserved for objects of altogether greater ambition. The design bears the signature of BIG-GAME, a studio founded in 2004 by Augustin Scott de Martinville, Grégoire Jeanmonod, and Elric Petit, three designers trained between Lausanne and London with a clear philosophy: to restore quiet elegance to everyday objects, without superfluous narrative devices. With Alessi, BIG-GAME has built over the years a dialogue based on subtraction — less decoration, more presence. Mattina is the offspring of this philosophy: every element is in its place because it needs to be there, not to seduce. At Stilmobili, we chose Mattina because it embodies exactly what we look for in kitchen objects: the ability to transform the everyday gesture — tearing off a sheet of paper — into a moment that is formally consistent with the rest of the space. It is designed for those who care for the kitchen as they care for the living room, for those who refuse to accept that usefulness must be anonymous. Dark Grey makes it versatile in contemporary, industrial, or Nordic kitchens, without ever being intrusive. Project notes: height 33 cm, diameter 16 cm. Structure in steel painted with epoxy resin. Knob in bamboo wood. Net weight 905 g. Alessi collection, autumn/winter lineup.
