Alessi Mami — The Bowl That Brings Tradition to the Table

Some shapes speak before they are even used. The Mami bowl by Alessi, designed by Stefano Giovannoni, brings a familiar, archetypal geometry to the table, recalling the simplicity of everyday objects without sacrificing the formal precision of a contemporary design. In white porcelain, it finds its purest expression: a surface that does not compete with the food, but enhances it.

The Mami Design

Stefano Giovannoni is one of the designers who most strongly shaped 1990s design, developing a recognizable language founded on expressiveness, irony, and a rare dialogue with the general public. With the Mami collection, Giovannoni takes a different direction from the playful vein that made him famous: a pursuit of classicism, harmony, and archetypal forms that he himself expresses through what he calls the maternal code. The result is a family of tableware objects — of which this bowl is part — that seem as though they have always been there, on any table, in any home. Lines that do not surprise, but reassure. Proportions designed to stand the test of time. The bowl is part of a complete tableware set, conceived for those who choose their tableware with the same care with which they choose their furnishings.
