Alessi — Lily MW71 | Wanders incense burner in steel and wood

There is something profoundly quiet about the act of lighting an incense stick. Lily transforms it into a domestic ritual of unexpected formal elegance: a slender stem rising vertically for twenty-six centimetres, made of polished 18/10 stainless steel, on a wooden base that brings warmth and natural weight to the whole. The proportions are carefully considered, almost architectural - the shape evokes a flower stem, as the name suggests, and allows the object to inhabit the space even when not in use, like a small tabletop sculpture. Marcel Wanders is one of the most recognizable designers in contemporary European design. Trained in the Netherlands and founder of the Moooi studio, Wanders has always cultivated a tension between the fairytale and the rational, between artisanal tradition and industrial production. In Lily, this duality can be seen in the meeting of steel - cold, precise, industrial - and wood, an ancient and organic material. A dialogue that Alessi has interpreted with its customary attention to quality craftsmanship. We chose Lily because it responds to a need that we increasingly encounter in the interior design projects shared with us: bringing the olfactory ritual into the home without sacrificing the aesthetic coherence of the surroundings. It is an object for those who consider fragrance an integral part of the home design, not a secondary accessory.
