Alessi — La Cupola A9095/6 B | Aldo Rossi Espresso Coffee Maker, 6 Cups

There is something architectural in the silence of a coffee maker before the steam begins to rise. Aldo Rossi's The Cupola belongs to that rare category of objects that are looked at before they are even used: its form is a small tabletop building, a pure and rooted geometry that evokes ancient domes reduced to the scale of the daily ritual. Made of cast aluminum - the noble material of the Italian moka tradition - with a black thermoplastic resin handle and knob, it offers a reassuring weight to the touch, the weight of things made to last. Aldo Rossi, one of the most influential Italian architects and theorists of the 20th century, brought to Alessi the same formal obsession that inhabited his buildings: the collective memory of form, the type as a universal language. The Cupola was created as part of Alessi's A collection, a project launched in the 1980s that brought the great masters of international design together around the domestic object as a field of cultural research. In this context, Rossi did not design a coffee maker: he built a pocket-sized monument to Italian coffee. At Stilmobili, we chose The Cupola because it perfectly embodies what we seek: objects that do not end with function but transcend it, becoming a presence. It is ideal for those who inhabit spaces with intention, who recognize design as an act of care toward everyday life, and who wish to give - or give themselves - a gift of authentic meaning. Project notes: 30 cl capacity for 6 espresso cups, height 28.5 cm, base diameter 10 cm. Cast aluminum with finishes consistent with the tradition of the Italian coffee maker. Part of Alessi's A collection, spring/summer season.
