Alessi — La Conica 90002/6 | Aldo Rossi coffee maker, 6 cups

There is something ancient and at the same time radically modern in La Conica's silhouette. The soaring cone, the sphere floating like a philosophical counterweight, the cool gleam of the 18/10 stainless steel engaging with the red warmth of the copper base: this coffee maker does not merely prepare espresso. It celebrates it. You hold it in your hands and immediately sense an unusual density - of material, certainly, but above all of thought. Steam rises, the ritual unfolds, and on the kitchen counter remains an object that continues to gaze even when the coffee is already in the cup. Aldo Rossi designed it in 1984 for Officina Alessi, the experimental line that the Alessi family had opened to the most visionary architects of the twentieth century. Rossi was at the height of his theoretical period: the Teatro del Mondo, his American projects, and his unceasing reflection on memory and archetypal form. La Conica is all of this condensed into thirty centiliters of capacity. The cone is one of architecture's primary forms, and Rossi brings it to the table with the same seriousness with which he would have used it in an elevation. It is not a decorative metaphor: it is geometry that works. At Stilmobili, we chose La Conica because it represents exactly what we look for in every piece: the meeting of design culture and the quality of everyday life. It is the ideal gift for anyone who loves Italian design in its most intellectual sense, for the architect, the collector, or anyone who wants every morning to begin with a gesture worth performing with care. Project notes: 18/10 stainless steel with a copper base for optimal heat distribution; 30 cl capacity for 6 cups; height 28.5 cm; weight 1.17 kg. Officina Alessi Collection, spring/summer.
