Alessi — La Bella Tavola ES21/87 | Porcelain filter coffee cup

There is a disarming simplicity to this cup that, when looked at closely, reveals itself as the result of profound thought. White porcelain - an ancient, domestic, universal material - achieves here a formal purity that is never cold. The ES21/87 cup from the La Bella Tavola collection has the right weight between the fingers, a silhouette that never overstates its gesture, and a generous capacity of twenty centiliters designed for filter coffee, that slow morning ritual belonging to a mindful, unhurried table culture. Ettore Sottsass, a monumental figure in twentieth-century Italian design, created this collection with his extraordinary ability to transform everyday life into an aesthetic experience. Founder of the Memphis movement, a critical and visionary voice in modern design, Sottsass set aside all excess here to restore the tableware's quiet dignity. La Bella Tavola does not seek to amaze: it seeks to last, to inhabit the years with discretion and grace. We chose this piece because it perfectly embodies what Stilmobili seeks in design: the ability to make the ordinary beautiful. It is the cup for those who prepare their coffee carefully in the morning, for those who set the table even when alone, for those who know that a well-made object changes the quality of time. Perfect for completing a refined tableware set or as a gift for someone who already has everything, but not this. Project notes: white porcelain, 20 cl capacity, 8.3 cm diameter. La Bella Tavola collection, designed by Ettore Sottsass for Alessi. Available in the spring/summer season.
