Alessi — KU TI05/76 | Toyo Ito porcelain coffee cup

There is something almost architectural in the simplicity of the KU cup. Made of pure white porcelain, with a compact shape and thin walls, it is an object that nestles between the fingers as naturally as a morning thought is welcomed. Here, white is not the absence of color, but a deliberate choice: a surface that captures the light, enhances the espresso's blackness, and restores all its quiet gravity to the coffee ritual. KU was created by Toyo Ito, one of the most influential Japanese architects of the second half of the twentieth century and the 2013 Pritzker Prize winner. His work has always moved between the weight of matter and the lightness of abstraction, between rigorous geometry and organic flow. Bringing this sensibility to the table means translating that same tension into ceramics: the cup has an essential, almost conceptual form, yet is perfectly suited to use. Designed for Alessi as part of a collaboration that has spanned eras of taste and contemporary design, KU belongs to a series that is now discontinued, making it even more precious to those who know how to recognize rarity in everyday life. We at Stilmobili chose it because it tells the exact story of what we believe in: that the most authentic design does not shout, but endures. It is the cup for those who collect objects with a story to treasure, for those who want even their seven-o'clock coffee to be a moment of aesthetic awareness. A gift for connoisseurs, a purchase for oneself that will not be forgotten. Project notes: white porcelain, 7 cl capacity, 6 cm diameter. Designed by Toyo Ito for Alessi.
