Alessi — ES22/2 | Sottsass porcelain soup plate

There is something radically simple, yet at the same time irreducible, about white porcelain when it is conceived by a mind like Ettore Sottsass's. The ES22/2 soup plate, belonging to the La Bella Tavola collection - renamed with the poetic variant My Beautiful China - does not assert itself through decorative excesses or forceful geometries. Instead, it presents itself in its crisp whiteness, in the measured profile of a diameter of twenty-three centimeters, like a surface waiting for the food, the light, and the gaze of whoever sits at the table. Ettore Sottsass, founder of the Memphis movement and a seminal figure in Italian design in the second half of the twentieth century, built his practice around the symbolic power of everyday objects. Even when working with the most classic ceramics - white porcelain, a material with a history spanning millennia - he does so with the awareness of someone who knows that every form carries with it an idea of the world. La Bella Tavola emerges from this tension: the tradition of the Italian table reinterpreted with a visionary eye, without nostalgia or irony, but with a profound and quiet elegance. At Stilmobili, we chose this plate because it tells a story that goes beyond furnishings: it is an object to live with every day, capable of transforming an ordinary meal into a mindful act. It is ideal for those who want a table setting that expresses taste and culture without ostentation, for those who seek quality through restraint, and for those who recognize in white not an absence, but a deliberate choice. Project notes: decorated white porcelain, 23 cm diameter, 450 g weight. Alessi collection, design by Ettore Sottsass. Seasonal spring/summer series.
