Alessi — ES19 | Sottsass red beechwood salt and pepper mill

There is something profoundly domestic and, at the same time, radically poetic about Ettore Sottsass's ES19 for Alessi. A spice mill made of red-stained beechwood — that vivid, almost theatrical red that Sottsass knew how to use like no one else — capable of transforming an everyday gesture, grinding salt or pepper at the table, into a small visual ritual. The wood, warm to the touch, the essential cylindrical form, the color that brightens every surface: every detail is designed to inhabit the space with presence. Ettore Sottsass was one of the great masters of 20th-century Italian design, founder of the Memphis Group and an unmistakable voice in an aesthetic capable of combining culture, irony, and material beauty. His collaboration with Alessi produced objects that do more than simply function: they express a point of view on the world. The ES19 belongs to the 100 Values Collection, the project through which Alessi celebrated its centenary by bringing together some of the most representative works from its design history — a living archive of intentions and visions. At Stilmobili, we chose the ES19 because it embodies exactly what we look for: objects that carry a story, an idea, a character within them. It is the ideal gift for those who love design as a form of thought, and for those who want their everyday table to be a place inhabited by authentic beauty. It pairs naturally with the most contemporary settings, while also engaging effortlessly with eclectic and intimate interiors. Design notes: height 15 cm, diameter 7 cm, beechwood stained red. Net weight 330 g. Design by Ettore Sottsass. Part of the Alessi 100 Values Collection.
