Alessi — ES19 2 | Sottsass pink beechwood salt mill

There is something deeply domestic yet refined about the act of grinding salt or pepper at the table. Alessi's ES19 2 transforms it into a moment of pure aesthetics: turned from beech wood and dyed in a delicate shade of pink, this spice grinder belongs to a category of objects that are not hidden away, but displayed. The form is essential, cylindrical, almost archetypal - yet the color choice redeems it from anonymity and naturally places it at the center of a carefully set table. The design bears the signature of Ettore Sottsass, an unparalleled figure in 20th-century Italian design. Founder of the Memphis movement and an indefatigable provocateur, Sottsass always understood everyday objects as vehicles of cultural and emotional meaning. Even in a kitchen grinder, his hand is recognizable: in the choice of warm, organic material, in the unexpected color, and in the desire to restore design dignity to something too often taken for granted. The ES19 2 is part of Alessi's legendary 100 Values Collection, created to celebrate a century of history through one hundred objects that embody its founding values. We at Stilmobili chose it because it perfectly represents what we love: design that does not separate beauty from usefulness, that bears an important signature without giving up irony and lightness. It is the ideal accessory for those who furnish their kitchen or dining table with the same care given to the living room - for those who know that even an everyday gesture deserves an object of distinction.
