Alessi — Edo PU200/28 | 28 cm steel lid with brown knob

There is something deliberately precious about the way Edo treats even the most functional detail. This 18/10 stainless steel lid - polished, taut, and perfectly calibrated at its 28-centimeter diameter - features a brown PVD-coated knob on top that transforms the everyday gesture of lifting the lid into an almost tactile and mindful act. Physical Vapour Deposition gives the knob a warm, earthy, unexpected chromatic depth: a color that evokes artisanal ceramics, terracotta, and raw material. And yet it is steel. This oxymoron - warm and cold, soft and hard - is the poetic heart of the entire collection. Edo was born from the vision of Patricia Urquiola, a Spanish designer trained in Milan who has been redefining the boundary between functional object and domestic sculpture for years. With Alessi, Urquiola creates a dialogue between the industrial precision of the Fabbrica del Lago d'Orta and a sensibility that looks to the Far East: compact forms, considered proportions, finishes that speak of artisan care despite being created through highly advanced processes. The name itself, Edo, evokes Japan during the pre-modern period and its aesthetic of rigorous simplicity. At Stilmobili, we chose Edo because it represents exactly what we believe in: that the kitchen should not have to sacrifice beauty, and that every component - even a lid - deserves to be conceived as a fully realized design object. It is the right choice for those who already have a thoughtfully designed kitchen and seek aesthetic coherence down to the last detail, for those who give with intention, and for those who cook as an act of love for others. Project notes: 18/10 stainless steel, knob with brown PVD finish, diameter 28 cm, height 4 cm, weight 756 g. Compatible with the pans in Patricia Urquiola's Edo collection for Alessi.
