Alessi — Edges ITM26 BR | Steel tray with brass PVD finish

There is something hypnotic about Edges' rim: a perforated perimeter that transforms a simple tray into an object to contemplate. 18/10 stainless steel - the material of choice in the Alessi tradition - is dressed here in a warm brass-colored PVD coating that captures the light and reflects it with the amber, almost metallurgical luminosity characteristic of noble materials that age gracefully. The perforation is not gratuitous ornamentation: it is the compositional fulcrum, the boundary between solid and void that defines the object's identity and makes it recognizable even from a distance. Edges belongs to the Il Tornitore Matto collection, a design universe conceived by Nika Zupanc, a Slovenian designer among the most original voices on the contemporary European scene. Zupanc has always worked on the tension between formal rigor and aesthetic allure, between the precision of the industrial process and an almost artisanal sensitivity to detail. In this 32.5 cm-diameter tray, that tension is resolved in an apparently simple circular form, which reveals its complexity only upon close observation.
