Alessi — Dressed MW03/37 | Steel butter knife with decoration

There is something unexpectedly theatrical about the everyday gesture of spreading butter, when the knife held between your fingers carries a whole universe of details. The MW03/37 from the Dressed collection is made of 18/10 stainless steel, polished and durable as befits an object intended for the everyday table, yet decorated on its surface with a raised pattern that transforms the cold material of the metal into something tangibly alive, almost textile-like. Sixteen measured centimeters in length, a proportion that fits the hand perfectly without ever being excessive. Dressed was born from the vision of Marcel Wanders, a Dutch designer whose signature has always been recognizable for his ability to hybridize the heritage of European ornamental craftsmanship with a contemporary and even ironic sensibility. With this collection, Wanders reinterprets classic cutlery as if it were a ceremonial outfit - hence the name - bringing back to the set table a sense of occasion, care, and intention. The project forms part of the broader story of Alessi's partnership with leading figures in international design, a tradition that, from Crusinallo, continues to redefine the boundary between functional object and applied art.
