Alessi — Dressed MW03/15 | Steel cake server with decoration

There is something profoundly ceremonial about serving a cake. Alessi's Dressed cake server transforms it into a moment of formal grace: made of 18/10 stainless steel, its surface is adorned with a delicate embossed decoration that captures the light and restores the dignity of a ritual to an everyday gesture. The material is solid, precise, and faithful to the manufacturing tradition of Crusinallo — yet the form speaks an unexpectedly ornamental language, almost ancient. Dressed is a collection designed by Marcel Wanders, the Dutch designer known for his ability to reconcile contemporary aesthetics with Europe's decorative heritage. Presented as part of Alessi's spring-summer program, the line stems from a reflection on the value of the table as a space for representation: not merely function, but staging. Wanders reintroduces ornamental motifs — long banished by modernist dogma — with sophisticated irony and compositional mastery, restoring their legitimacy and desirability. We chose this cake server for those who set the table with the same care they use when choosing an outfit for a special occasion. It is the right piece for those who love entertaining, those who regard Sunday lunch as a minor art to be practiced seriously, and those looking for a wedding or anniversary gift that combines beauty and usefulness without becoming banal.
