Alessi — Dressed MW01/79 | White porcelain tea saucer

There is something ancient yet perfectly contemporary about placing a cup on this saucer. The porcelain is white, pure, but not silent: its surface is animated by a raised decoration that runs like an impalpable embroidery, a texture discovered first with the eyes and then with the fingertips. The generous, carefully calibrated 18.5 cm diameter is designed to accommodate the matching cup from the Dressed collection gracefully. Dressed was created in 2012 by the visionary Marcel Wanders, one of the most recognizable Dutch designers on the international scene, known for his ability to weave together craftsmanship, fairy tales, and industrial rigor. The project takes its name from its founding gesture: "dressing" porcelain with a decoration that evokes the great tableware services of European tradition, reinterpreting them in a poetic and modern key. Like an evening dress worn with ease, Dressed transforms everyday life into a ceremony.
