Alessi — Boga VS06 | Satin-finish steel ginger grater

There is something almost meditative about grating fresh ginger: the sharp, pungent aroma that is released, the surface transforming into a lively, aromatic paste. Boga accompanies this moment with the discretion and precision of an object designed down to the last millimetre. Made of satin-finished AISI 430 stainless steel, its micro-perforated surface works with surgical efficiency, while the matte finish conveys a restrained, almost mineral tactile quality. Its proportions - slim and elongated, 18.5 centimetres long and less than 2 centimetres thick - make it an object that feels natural to hold and can be stored without taking up space. Boga stems from Valerio Sommella's design for Alessi, a designer who has succeeded in bringing to the Fabbrica di Omegna catalogue a contemporary sensibility attentive to the needs of everyday cooking without ever sacrificing formal quality. Part of the permanent Alessi collection, the piece responds to the spring/summer season with a fitting lightness: it is a tableware utensil, certainly, but also a small gesture of care for food and for the aesthetics of conviviality. We at Stilmobili chose it because it embodies exactly what we look for: objects that do not shout their presence, but exert it with quiet authority. Boga is ideal for those who love cooking mindfully, for those who host at the table with attention to detail, and for those who want to give something useful that nevertheless has the substance of a design object.
