Alessi — Barket | Stainless Steel Basket

Alessi Barket BM10/21 — The Bark of Trees Comes to the Table

There is something intimate about bringing a basket to the table that tells the story of a landscape. Barket was born from a house in the Tuscan countryside and the centuries-old trees surrounding it: their bark, reinterpreted through delicate laser cutting on steel, transforms a simple everyday gesture - serving bread, fruit, or the small things of daily life - into a moment of visual care. Light filters through the perforated design, aromas are released, and the table takes on a quiet, precise presence.

Why we chose it for you

Michael Boucquillon and Donia Maaoui built the Bark collection around an idea of autobiographical design: objects that originate from a lived-in place, not from a brief. The result is a rare coherence between form and meaning. Alessi - founded in 1921 on Lake Orta and for decades a research laboratory in the applied arts - recognized in this project the same tension between craftsmanship and poetry that guides its selection. Barket is not just any basket: it is a collectible piece for everyday use.
