Alessi — Arran 90068 GRP | Iridescent steel tray by Enzo Mari

There is something almost meteorological about the way Arran changes appearance depending on the light. The rectangular tray is presented in steel coated with resin in the two souls of green and purple — a color-shifting effect that never allows itself to be fully fixed, eluding definition just as the colors of the sky do at dusk. Its proportions — forty-eight centimeters long, twenty-five wide, barely four deep — make it the quintessential horizontal object, designed to sit, collect, and discreetly organize the surface of a table or sideboard. Enzo Mari is one of the most uncompromising and clear-sighted figures in 20th-century Italian design. Designer, theorist, polemicist — his work spans half a century of design culture with a rare moral consistency. His partnership with Alessi produced some of the most iconic objects from the Crusinallo manufacturer, pieces in which form is never decoration but thought made material. Arran belongs to this tradition: the simplicity of its geometry is calculated, not accidental, and the chromatic effect is not a whim but a precise choice about how an object relates to those who look at it. We chose it for Stilmobili because it is a piece that challenges the category it belongs to. It is not merely a tray: it is a presence on the table, an object that invites you to look twice. It is ideal for those who enrich their spaces with objects that carry a design story, for those who appreciate the tension between rationality and sensoriality at the heart of great Italian design.
