There is something ritualistic about slicing a truffle: the blade descending slowly, the aroma released into the air, the thinnest petals falling onto the plate. Alba accompanies this moment with a presence that goes beyond function - it is an object to hold with pleasure, to leave on display even when not in use.

Why we chose it for you

Designed by Ben van Berkel of UNStudio, Alba stems from a precise intuition: the shape of the tool echoes the underground entanglement between the tuberous fungus and the roots of the plant with which it lives in symbiosis. Not a decorative detail, but a coherent design concept from beginning to end. Alessi - an Italian applied arts workshop since 1921 - entrusted this project to one of the most rigorous international architecture firms, in collaboration with the Centro Nazionale Studi Tartufo. The result is a traditional tool reinterpreted with the precision of a collectible object.
