Alessi — Squirrel | Branzi Design Nutcracker

Alessi Scoiattolo AB13 — The Nutcracker That Becomes a Tabletop Sculpture

There is something familiar yet surprising about looking at Andrea Branzi's Scoiattolo: its elongated silhouette discreetly evokes the animal without ever becoming caricatured. In the hand, it comes naturally to life, and the act of cracking nuts becomes a small winter ritual to be performed slowly, savoring every gesture.

Why we chose it for you

Since 1921, Alessi has been a research workshop dedicated to the applied arts, capable of transforming everyday objects into recognizable design pieces. Andrea Branzi - a designer attentive to ecology and natural forms - created this nutcracker as part of a cohesive family of objects with elongated silhouettes, including the Acchiappastuzzicadenti and the "Ercolino" Bottle Opener. Each piece conveys a view of the natural world reinterpreted with irony and formal rigor: this rare balance is what made us choose it.
